Good morning. I have received some great comments and questions about Uruguayan food. Thank you so much, you guys made my day. I received an e-mail by a reader and she wanted to know how to make chocolate flan. Actually, this is something we do not cook at my house, we usually make regular flan or dulce de leche flan (OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!). We have also tried the Mexican version of “chocoflan” which is chocolate cake on the bottom with flan on top, but my family did not care for it very much. I liked it though.
I used this recipe for my chocolate flan. It was good.
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1/2 cup of water
- 5 whole eggs
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 can evaporated milk
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 1 1/2 tablespoons of sugar
- 3/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
- powder sugar for dusting
