Dancing Raisins

My kids have missed me for a little bit while I was recovering from -we think- some kind of food poisoning. They have missed our cool science moments together. So we did something simple: making raisins dance 😉
This is a very simple and common experiment. Some people do it with carbonated beverages, we used the good ol’ baking soda and vinegar method (we go though a LOT of these two items in a month…)
Could not be any simpler, but if you put music in the background and see these raisins dance, the kids will have a blast!
You need:

  • raisins
  • water
  • baking soda
  • vinegar
  • bowl
  • spoon
  • CLEAR TALL glass
First, fill up the glass with water, about half way. Remember, when you add the vinegar to the baking soda it reacts and it goes all the way to the top!!

Add baking soda, about 1 tablespoon

Add the raisins

Stir. Add vinegar by teaspoonfuls.

Watch it react!

Put some music and watch them dance!
