This is the easiest baking soda “volcano” experiment that you do with stuff you have in your pantry. My kids had some friends over and they started to get a little “bored” since it was so hot outside and they were playing with water, they needed a “boost of fun” to keep them motivated in their backyard adventures. I am pretty sure you have seen this before, but this is how we do it. First, you need:
- Baking soda
- Food coloring
- Clear plastic cups
- Baking sheet
Step one: Put drops of food coloring in spoons. This will be the “mystery color”
Step two: Fill the cups 3/4 of the way with vinegar.
Step three: put a good amount of baking soda on top of the food coloring.
Step four: let kids put the spoon on vinegar and mix.
Step five: watch it erupt!!!! The funny thing was they did not know it would have different colors! They were surprised!
Somebody was a little scared…
And keep adding once more! After the second try, it will stop exploding! but they kept trying…
