Family Fun Biscuits

Ok, so you know how much I love to cook and bake. However, I also like to eat healthy. This biscuits despite being out-of-this-world- GOOD are also a little bit hmmmmm…. sinful. It is OK to indulge once in a while, right? If you are looking for a biscuit recipe, try this one. You can reduce the amount of butter but it might not be as flaky. When the cold butter meets the high heat of the oven (450 degrees) it creates steam that makes the dough puff up, giving the biscuits all that flakiness.
They are a hit in my house. Since we were having people over for dinner I made this. They are easy to make.

  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 2tsp salt
  • 1 TBSP sugar
  • 3/4 tsp cream of tartar
  • 3/4 cup butter, cubed
  • 1 cup milk
Mix all dry ingredients. Put butter into dry ingredients (Make sure the butter is VERY COLD!) and cut it into the flour with a pastry cutter. When it resembles sand and peas, you can add the milk, all at once.
Mix dough and put it into a floured surface. Roll it out to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut, I used a cup! You can actually put them in the refrigerator until you are ready to bake them.

Bake @ 450 for 12 minutes. Eat while hot!
